The 2022 Bond was for $425M; there were major projects scheduleded at Inglemoor HS, Leota MS, 5 elementary schools, and Sorenson Early Childhood Center. Read on to see the status of these projects; for details click here for information from the NSD Capital Projects Department.
Sorenson Early Childhood Center
The project at Sorenson includes the following.
- Remove two portable classrooms and add four permanent classrooms.
- Alter existing space to create additional staff/counselor spaces.
- Add an activity room as well as small group, one-on-one, and support spaces.
- Add a fully accessible and inclusive playground for Sorenson and the adjacent Westhill Elementary as well as a new covered play area at Westhill Elementary.
- Add parking as well as improve site circulation for both Sorenson and Westhill Elementary.
Status: Site work started at Sorenson in Summer 2024 while a groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2024. An open house and ribbon cutting ceremony was held in October 2025. Minor punch list items are all that remains to be completed.
Inglemoor High School
The project at Inglemoor includes the following.
- Plan and design a phased replacement of the school; eventually all buildings and portable classrooms will be demolished/removed.
- Remove the 599, 600, and 700 buildings along with the planetarium and two locker pavilions.
- Add a 3-story building that will include a new commons, kitchen, and restrooms, as well as new classrooms.
- Add a geothermal heating and cooling system.
- Remodeled an original building and added portable classrooms to provide temporary space.
Status: Starting in Summer 2024 temporary classroom space, for use during construction, was constructed. In April 2025 the Master Plan was completed and a groundbreaking ceremony was held in June 2025. In July 2025 site clearing and demolition was done in preparation for the new building; phase 1 construction is expected to be completed in Summer 2027. Click here to see a 3-D model of phase 1.
Leota Middle School
The project at Leota includes the following.
- Plan and design a phased replacement of the school; eventually all buildings and portable classrooms will be demolished/removed.
- Remove seven portable classrooms.
- Add a 3-story building with 36 teaching stations.
- Reorganize the building entry and administrative area.
- Add inclusive student restrooms, counseling support spaces, Special Education classrooms, and EV charging stations.
- Add parking as well as improve site circulation.
Status: The Master Plan was completed, and construction of phase 1 began in January 2025. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in June 2025 as the foundation for the 3-story building was being finished and the building process was beginning.
Crystal Springs Elementary School
The project at Crystal Springs includes the following.
- Remove ten portable classrooms and add seven permanent classrooms.
- Add two music rooms, a multi-purpose platform, a commons, a kitchen, and a gym, as well as small group and support spaces.
- Modernize the existing spaces by adding student restrooms, updating the fire alarm system, and adding electrical outlets.
- Add a fully accessible and inclusive playground and a covered play area.
- Add parking as well as improve site circulation.
Status: Site work started at Crystal Springs in Summer 2024 while a groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2024. Everything but the new parent drop-off loop was ready for the 2025 opening of school; that and minor punch list items are all that remains to be completed.
Fernwood Elementary School
The project at Fernwood includes the following.
- Remove fifteen portable classrooms and add thirteen permanent classrooms.
- Add a front-office area and convert the original area to educational and counselor use.
- Add two music rooms and two multi-purpose rooms as well as small group and support spaces.
- Modernize the original spaces by replacing HVAC unit heaters and classroom carpet and updating the fire alarm system.
- Add a fully accessible and inclusive playground.
- Improve site circulation and arrival.
Status: Site work started at Fernwood in Summer 2024 while a groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2024. The site circulation work was completed for the 2025 opening of school. The construction of the new building is progressing quickly.
Kenmore Elementary School
The project at Kenmore Elementary includes the following.
- Remove nine portable classrooms and add a net of two permanent classrooms.
- Relocate the admin entry area and convert the original admin area to house some of the functions previously located in the portable classrooms.
- Add an administration building, cafeteria, and kitchen.
- Modernize the existing spaces by providing interior access to classroom restrooms and renovating classroom interiors.
- Add an inclusive playground.
- Improve site circulation.
Status: Site work started at Kenmore Elementary in Summer 2024 while a groundbreaking ceremony was held in October 2024. An open house and ribbon cutting ceremony was held in October 2025. Minor punch list items are all that remains to be completed from this project and a playground expansion feasibility study is ongoing.
Maywood Hills Elementary School
The project at Maywood Hills includes the following.
- Remove ten portable classrooms and add a net of eight permanent classrooms.
- Add a cafeteria and kitchen.
- Modernize the original spaces by replacing the HVAC control system, installing new roofing, and renovating classroom interiors.
- Add a fully accessible and inclusive playground.
- Improve site circulation, perimeter delineation and security, and arrival.
Status: Site work started at Maywood in Summer 2024 while a groundbreaking ceremony was held in October 2024. An open house and ribbon cutting ceremony was held in September 2025. Minor punch list items are all that remains to be completed.
Woodin Elementary School
The project at Woodin includes the following.
- Remove six portable classrooms and add six permanent classrooms.
- Add two music rooms, a multi-purpose platform, student restrooms, and a gym, as well as small group and support spaces.
- Convert the original gym to a commons.
- Modernize the existing spaces by updating HVAC unit heaters, re-flooring the main hallway, remodeling student restrooms, and updating the fire alarm system.
- Install a new elevator in the courtyard.
- Add a fully accessible and inclusive playground.
- Add parking as well as improve site circulation.
Status: Site work started at Woodin in Summer 2024 while a groundbreaking ceremony was held in October 2024. An open house and ribbon cutting ceremony was held in October 2025. Minor punch list items are all that remains to be completed.
